At the National University of Singapore, Scientists tested two sets of white rabbits inhabitants of New Zealand. Both sets were fed a high-cholesterol diet over eight weeks, but one was also fed with zinc supplements. It was found that increase intake of zinc did not effect the amount of cholesterol in blood, in fact reduced the old cholesterol in on arterial walls. More specifically, zinc was cleaning the arteries of rabbits.
Researchers found an increased intake of zinc did not affect the amount of cholesterol in blood, but had great impact in reducing the amount of buildup old cholesterol had caused on arterial walls. In other words, zinc was helping clean out the arteries of the rabbits.
