Therapists Enlist Eastern Art of Reiki to Battle Recession StressTWO mid-Cheshire complementary therapists have joined forces to bring a little ancient wisdom and help to those who are struggling to cope with the economic challenges that seem to have rocked everyone in the country.

Jennifer Manley of Hartford and Sue Garnett of Weaverham, are highly qualified Masters in the ancient Japanese healing method of Reiki which utilises an unseen force known as Universal Life Energy and believe they can help.

So they have launched a series of two-day self-help Reiki courses aimed at men and women who are finding the day to day stresses of life even more difficult to cope with in the challenging times.

“Sue and I have been friends for some time and when we met earlier this year we found ourselves chatting about our respective clients and how many were finding the pressures of the current economic client very taxing,” said Jennifer, speaking from her Chester Road consulting rooms.

“Unemployment and financial issues affecting people and these stresses were manifesting themselves physically in the form of illness. We agreed that Reiki could help these individuals re-balance their lives and enable them to deal with the stresses of modern living.”

Sue added: “We are both fortunate enough to be able to help others thanks to our training. Jenny trained in India whereas I underwent intensive training locally from the late Northwich based Reiki master Josie Bell who was a fantastic influence. Jennifer and I knew we had to do something to help people and that’s where our Reiki courses originated.”

Jennifer and Sue devised an introductory Reiki course to give individuals the tools and the know-how to calm and heal themselves to help them deal with the stresses and strains of modern life. Courses began at the beginning of October and are already proving popular.

Jennifer explained: “The pressures of modern life affect us all. When you switch on the TV or radio all you hear is bad news from rising unemployment to the very sad deaths of young soldiers in Afghanistan. The barrage of bad news affects us mentally and physically but Reiki enables us to cope with the stresses of daily life and heal ourselves,” added Jennifer.

Jennifer and Sue have now set up a joint business, Synergy, which is running the two day weekend courses from Jennifer’s Chester Road consulting rooms running from 10 am until 4pm.

“Although we’re aiming our courses at individuals who want to heal themselves I would be surprised if some students don’t want to study this ancient art further,” added Sue. “Reiki has been life changing for me.
