Minimizing the use of MedicinesAnything that you can do to be healthier is likely to reduce the number and amount of drugs that your doctor would need to prescribe for you.

A good doctor is certainly willing to see that you are taking as little medicine as possible. One reason to take only minimum doses is that all drugs carry a risk.

You could say that vitamins carry a risk, too.  You could say that everything in life carries some risk.  You could, but that would obscure the real point that drugs carry.

A higher than average risk, and they are regularly used by a very large number of people. Vitamin supplements have an especially high margin for error; drugs do not.

Experts Warn that Anxiety Medicines like Valium Might Just be as Addictive as Heroine

Experts Warn that Anxiety Medicines like Valium Might Just be as Addictive as Heroine.Scientists have recently sounded warnings that a popular form of anxiety medicines uses the same potentially addictive "reward pathways" in the brain as drugs like heroine and cannabis do, making them just as addictive.

Researchers from Switzerland and America joined hands to reach at this conclusion. They discovered that benzodiazepine drugs likeValium and Xanax tend to exert a calming effect, which is achieved by boosting the action of a neurotransmitter.

This result is the activation of the gratification hormone, dopamine, in the brain, which is the same "reward pathway" which is activated by many of the popular and illegal drugs.

Concerned parents need more than reminders to get children vaccinated. According to peer-reviewed studies, the "regular" flu vaccine has no effect on the new H1N1 virus (CDC and Australian Pandemic report, Aug. 2009).

If the new swine flu vaccine conforms to the regular models, it will only provide 6 percent to 15 percent protection against the flu (Cochrane compilation of all studies). It will have no effect on deadly complications in any population group (Cochrane). No study of flu vaccinations has shown any benefit for children under 2, and every year half of those killed from vaccine side effects are under 2 years old.
